YAY!!!!

I can now posts pictures and tell you I WON! :-)

Curiosity theme "Which came first?

And... runner up in the stringing category of the jewellery making competition :-)

Fauna theme, "Black Faced Sheep".

The Flame Off was brilliant, my mum and I had a great time.

 12th March

My GBUK entry was sent off just before the deadline, panic and worry, is it good enough, will they "get it!" well.. only time will tell. As it's my first entry in the advanced category all I want to do to it to make sure it's not totally obvious I'm a newbie in this section.

I also entered the jewellery making competiton, this isn't really in my comfort zone and this was at the very, very last minute to help boost the number of entries. I will make sure I enter again next year and that I spend longer making the item and that I have all the correct findings needed!

My lovely mum is travelling from Meillac, Brittany and will be stopping with us this next week, she doesn't lampwork herself but likes to knit with beads and wire and makes fabulous cuff bracelets, she loves the Flame Off, we have a great day out.

We will be manning the GBUK stall 10-11 on Saturday, handing out and selling the new GBUK Journal... if your passing say hi :-)

I also have a few new beads for sale on ETSY.... please check them out and enjoy the rest of the Easter Holidays

                                                                                                    13th February 2012

Been busy working on my entry to this years GBUK lampwork competition, The themes are "Fauna" or "Curiosity".

All the entries will be on view at the Flame Off in Towcester this April.

What's a Flame Off?

It's hundreds of glass beadmakers getting together in 2 halls to play with glass and fire.
Upstairs in the top hall they will have the best Worldwide lampwork artists demonstrating in front of a camera so that the 150 seater area will have tv screens beaming all the detail, each artist demonstrates for 45 mins through the day.

Downstairs there is a sales area with traders , a "lampworkers village" with the leading artists selling there creations and a huge free taster area. The taster area will have benches set out were anybody can sit down and play with the glass , make beads , pendants or just melt and blob. If you have never made beads or played with hot glass before but wanted to then this is the show for you as you get a chance to sit and play , get tuition off the stewards and if you like it you can then buy all the kit to take home.

It is held at Towcester Racecourse on the 13th and 14th April 2012, just off the M1 with lots of free parking and is open on both days from 10.00am - 5.00pm.

April-   My lampwork has taken a back seat at the moment, I managed to make time to get a set of beads into the GBUK (Intermediate category) Lampwork competition at the Flame Off and totally delighted to say I won first prize with my "Cats In Hats" :-D

Snowy Christmas Tree, I have struggled to reproduce this bead and managed one that I was pleased with, which is now in America, but I don't know what I was on the day I made this but can I have some more please....

A special thank you to Helen who gave me the greatest honor of wearing the pendant I'd made for her on her special day, it really meant a lot xxx.

Glad you had a wonderful day and from the photo's it looked absolutely perfect.

Managed to get a few hours in the cellar and made a set for the GBUK "day at the races" competition. I entered the intermediate category and won. Talk about gob smacked.... I was so sorry not to have been able to make it to the Flame Off in Towcester but my GBUK prize was posted on to me.

"A day at the races" set of 13 beads. (not unlucky for me!)

My chocolate beads were in Bead Magazine.

It was first year as a GBUK (Glass Bead makers UK) member and I was included in the GBUK journal.

Passed my night class with Distinction...yay no more homework and

Just had my first European sale, a "Fairy Kitty" bead is on it's way to Norway :-)
